Sign-ups close on Monday of each session. Please sign-up at our pool office.
We use Red Cross course material for our lesson program. It is a progressive system where students move at their own pace through a series of levels. Children should be at least 3 years of age by the first day of class to register for these classes.
Level 1: Water Exploration Water adjustment, bobbing, front and back float with kicking. Introduction to arm motion.
Level 2: Primary Skills Bobbing, rhythmic breathing, combined front crawl, back float with finning. Introduction to back crawl.
Level 3: Stroke Readiness Bobbing, coordinated front crawl with breathing, coordinated back crawl and to elementary backstroke.
Level 4: Stroke Development Rhythmic breathing, deep water bobbing, front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke (25 yds).
Introduction to breast stroke, sidestroke and standing dives.
Level 5: Stroke Refinement Front crawl, back crawl, elementary back (50 yds), sidestroke, breast stroke (25 yds). Introduction to butterfly, turns, underwater swimming and diving.
Level 6: Stroke Proficiency (Session II only) Front crawl, back crawl (100 yds), side stroke, breast stroke (50 yds), butterfly (10 yds). Introduction to pike and tuck surface dives, shallow dives and all turns.
Little Dipper: 3, 4, 5 year olds who can go without a parent/guardian will be placed according to skills.
Aqua Tots: Introduction to water play and safety for infants and parents.
